A Little About Monika
Hi I’m Monika, the owner of Mobile Hair And Makeup Artistry. I help the naturally chic, skin sensitive bride to feel comfortable wearing non irritating, camera ready makeup without it looking caked on, so that she can look and feel absolutely gorgeous on her wedding day.
I am a double diploma qualified Makeup Artist and Beauty Therapist having attained my Beauty Diploma from Elly Lukas. Along with these qualifications I am also ITEC, CIBTAC and CIDESCO qualified, allowing me to practise my artistry all over the world, including the UK, USA and Saudi Arabia.
As a result, I am well versed in how to improve your skin prior to your big day. This will allow your makeup to be even more amazing once applied for your wedding.
I have been in the makeup industry, in one form or another for over 30 years, giving me a very wide range of experiences.
My formal makeup training was achieved here in Melbourne at the National Academy of Beauty (which unfortunately no longer exists). I have then further studied with international educator Donna Mee, learning things like Corrective Makeup to ensure that I can emphasize your best features and de-emphasize those you don’t wish on show.
During my time at National Academy, I also attended workshops with Rae Morris when she was the Creative Director there.
As for my hair training, this was done at the well-regarded BIBA Academy right here in Melbourne, being traditionally trained by some of their best tutors. I have also done training with Sharon Blain and Lorna Evans to round out my current skills.
Having been both internationally and locally published, worked on TV with both MeTV and on The Mentor on Channel 7 and currently the resident makeup artist for the anchor of the Multicultural Football Show on Channel 31. I have also worked on short films, and music video clips for the US Top 10 Rated Lorenzo Iannotti.
So all in all I’ve got your back.
What DoYou Get When You Book Me?
You get plain old fashioned service when you book Mobile Hair and Makeup Artistry. As I am the owner, I am also the main artist, and therefore you get me 100%.
You can contact me at any time in the lead up to your wedding, (or other special occasion) and if I am not busy with another client, I will pick up immediately. If I can’t pick up immediately, I will return your call just as soon as I can, but never more than a couple of hours.
I am old school, and unless I am run over by a bus crossing the street to get to your house, I will be there – you can depend on that. You won’t be one of those brides I see posts about every week, trying to find a replacement artist at the last minute.
When I am speaking with you, you will get my undivided attention, I won’t be flicking through my Facebook or Instagram to see what’s happening. You will be my total focus.
How Do I Work?
When you contact Mobile Hair And Makeup Artistry to discuss your wedding plans you will be speaking with me. No one else will answer the phone, ever, so you can feel assured that your booking will never get lost.
We will have a lengthy chat, to ensure that I am fully briefed on the vision you have for your wedding makeup and hair. I’ll know about as much about your dress as you do as this will help me help you with your final look.
We’ll also discuss your venue, the cars, the bridesmaids and anything and everything else you wish to share with me.
If by chance you are doing this on your own, I can be your surrogate mother if you need one.
Once we have booked in your wedding, we will work towards a preview. At the preview we will work to make your vision come to life. I like to do this at almost the same time as your service will be. This gives you the feel of the makeup and hair for almost as long as it will be on your wedding day. You will end up feeling much more confident knowing that it’s all going to last and you will still look as gorgeous at day’s end as at the beginning.
